BoTree’s collection of Great Taste Awards
Since we started BoTree in 2017, we are honoured to have won 7 Great Taste awards and 12 gold stars for our seasoning products. The Great Taste Awards are called the Oscars of food for good reason. Created by the Guild of Fine Food, esteemed Great Taste judges blind-taste thousands of high-quality food items to determine the best of the best. Judged by over 500 of the most demanding palates, belonging to food critics, chefs, cooks, restaurateurs, buyers, retailers and producers, as well as a whole host of food writers and journalists, Great Taste is widely acknowledged as the most respected food accreditation scheme for artisan and speciality food producers.
2019 Awards
Salted Pepper Berries - 3 stars Our product boasting the most awards is our beloved Salted Pepper Berries which won 3 gold stars in 2019! Out of 12,700 food and drink entries, only 280 received the highest rating of 3 star. As described on the Great Taste website, a 3 star rating indicates an “Exquisite” product: “extraordinarily tasty foods – around 2% of products are awarded 3-stars each year. Don’t leave the shop without buying it!” “Astonishing - how can one little berry deliver such intensity of flavour” - Judges
Herbs de Kampot - 2 stars Another of our seasoning marvels, Herbs de Kampot, won two stars at Great Taste Awards, which means judges dubbed it “above and beyond delicious”. ““A varied blend with a complex flavour and aroma. There is heat and fragrance from the pepper, with layers of interest underneath, good quality spices and everything really well balanced with the salt. This has been put together with thought” - Judges
2018 & 2017 Awards
Red Kampot Pepper - 2 Stars “Beautifully variegated red berries, releasing a bright, fruity aroma on pounding. The heat is initially moderate, the fruitiness mild but pleasant” - Judges
White Kampot Pepper - 1 star “These have a very fragrant and charming introductory note on the front of the tongue and the stripy appearance is also very appealing. The heat does indeed settle at the back of the palate, where it provides a long-lasting glow” - Judges 2017 Black Kampot Pepper - 1 star “A very fresh, intensely hot pepper but with levels of aromatics to match the heat. Even the heat has levels on the tongue. There are wonderful waves of both menthol and floral aromatics coming through at some length. An outstanding pepper” - Judges
