Why go organic with your spices

In the modern age, we are often unaware of where our food comes from and how it is produced. Choosing to eat organic food not only benefits one's health (fewer pesticides, additives, preservatives and GM foods), it reduces the impact on the planet too, supporting a holistic and sustainable approach to farming. At BoTree, we take pride in our spices being harvested using traditional artisan techniques; hand-picked and sorted, dried naturally and transported whole to preserve freshness. We support healthy working environments which are free of toxic pesticides and caustic fertilisers. This means you can eat products confidently, knowing you are putting natural, chemical-free ingredients into your body. Our pepper farm in Kampot has been certified as 100% organic, which allows consumers to appreciate the distinct quality and to be confident that the farmers have strictly followed the principles stated in the standards. As a result, the standards provide an instrument to offer clarity and to build up trust in chemical-free or organic products.

Organic Guarantee System for Cambodia
To guide farmers, producers, traders and food processors as well as consumers, COrAA developed the “Standards for Organic Crop Production” and the “Standards for Chemical-Free Crop Production”. These provide the basis for COrAA’s inspection and certification scheme (for the domestic market). Only farm products, which have been certified by COrAA, may be labeled “Organic “or “Chemical-free” respectively.
