New Harvest Turmeric has an intense, sweet, fresh and floral flavour with a vibrant colour and strong aroma. Our turmeric is irrigated using a special water conservation method, which concentrates its earthy flavour, and is grown alongside sugarcane so it has sweet, fruity notes and a floral aroma.

The skin is left on to intensify the flavour, as most turmeric is graded by colour alone this vital part of the plant is usually removed. Shame on them.

Soft, powdery and fine to the touch. Buttery and sweet,

Add to: Sauces, stews, salad dressings, soups and latte’s

Judges Comments:

We were amazed that the normally harsh turmeric had a sweet softness and fruity notes as promised. Tasting it with chicken it was gentle and fragrant. We think this would work well with sweet dishes and would be perfect for lattes and other health drinks. Very good indeed.

This is a deep coloured and fresh smelling turmeric, and the taste of the powder on the tongue is fresh and pungent. We felt we would like to cook with it, and would expect the freshness to carry through, bringing a lively spicy flavour and a vibrant colour to the food.

Rich, dark and vibrant colour with warm and earthy aromas. Simple earthy notes that are subtle and straightforward without deep complexity.

Further seasoning wisdom:

Our New Harvest Turmeric is a Salem variety, grown in a strictly organic way  in the Southern state of India, Karnataka. This particular grower is meticulous in his attitude towards growing turmeric with maximum flavour and nutritional value.

The best thing about our turmeric is it is grown for taste, not for the flawed grading system based on colour. It contains none of the metallic bitterness associated with lower quality turmeric, only powerful, rich butteriness. It is 100% turmeric, and 100% lead free. It has 4% Curcumin, an active ingredient in turmeric which contains nutritional properties. In contrast, your average turmeric only contains 3%.

Soil cured, left in the ground for 2 weeks after leaves have died to ensure a dryer product. This means less water thus less weight and so less profit for the farmer. The turmeric is hot water processed, not peeled or polished and has the skin left on. The skin is left on due to the fact it has a greater concentration of nutrients drawn from the pesticide free soil.

It is perfect for both savoury and sweet dishes. As a flavour, it makes an ideal addition to curries, vegetables, soups, stews, and salad dressings. To fully divulge the body in turmerics nutritional benefits, you can use it to create a delicious turmeric latte, or golden milk.  The powerful and floral character will tantalize your taste buds.
