New world-class product: Palmyra Flower Sugar

Drumroll please, we’ve just added another world-class Kampot product to our pantry: Palmyra Flower Sugar

Just like Kampot Pepper, our Palmyra Flower Sugar has a protected designation of origin award and a protected geographical indication (PGI) status. Its exceptional taste and versatility are recognised by food manufacturers and nutritional chefs worldwide, who use it as an alternative to refined sugar in products and recipes.

How does Palmyra Flower Sugar grow?

Palmyra Flower Sugar is hand harvested from the blossom nectar of the wild coconut palm in the Cambodia's Kampong Speu region. Borassus flabellifer or Tnaôt in Khmer is a wild sugar palm tree that grows naturally throughout Cambodia. This tree has nothing to do with the palm oil tree. Extracting the sugar from its flowers is a Cambodian ancestral tradition and is the national symbol of the Kingdom alongside Ankor Wat.

What does Palmyra Flower Sugar taste like?

With its fine, balanced sweetness and its unmistakable taste of honey, caramel and vanilla, it offers sweetness packed with flavour.

What are the benefits of using Flower Sugar?

Despite its seductive appearance, you can enjoy our sugar without regret! Glucose free with sucrose and fructose, trace elements of potassium and magnesium, as well as vitamin C and the amino acids glutamine and arginin. This natural sugar doesn't cause insulin secretion, so it is the ideal sugar for diabetics with a very low glycemic index of less than 30.

How to use Flower Sugar?

Sprinkle on cereal, stir into coffee or tea, add to shakes, smoothies, and juices, and use in baking and cooking.

One of our favourite recipes:

You must try Tuk Meric a deceptively simple dip made from salt, pepper, sugar and lime juice. In Cambodian restaurants you will get it with everything from beef lok lak to freshly-boiled seafood. It is traditionally mixed right at the table. Makes a fantastic BBQ Marinade
